Marta joined East Cheshire NHS Trust as a Specialist Registrar in Respiratory Medicine in April 2002 and was appointed Consultant Respiratory Physician in April 2003.
Throughout the early part of her consultant career, Marta developed a strong interest in medical education and held a number of senior educational leadership positions, including Foundation Programme Director, Director of Medical Education and Respiratory Medicine Training Programme Director for the Mersey Deanery. Following more than 15 years of experience in undergraduate and postgraduate medical education, she was appointed Clinical Lead for Medicine before taking up the role of Deputy Chief Medical Officer in 2023.
As Deputy Chief Medical Officer, Marta leads the Trust's implementation of Martha's Law and oversees the development of clinical pathways as part of the Trust's mortality improvement programme. She also provides executive leadership for a range of workforce, quality improvement, patient safety and clinical governance initiatives across the organisation.

Member of: Public Trust Board, Private Trust Board, Finance, Performance and Productivity Committee, Local Negotiating Committee, Representative of the Corporate Trustee for East Chesire NHS Chairty, Safety and Quality Standards Committee, Clinical Leadership Board, Incident Investigation Committee.
Other Professional Roles and Interests: Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians (FRCP), PACES Examiner for the Royal College of Physicians, Medical Member of the Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service (MPTS).
